In the world of production, there is a common misconception that the beauty department is just a "finishing touch." As a professional Hair and Makeup Artist with hundreds of shoots—from controlled studio sets to run-and-gun music videos and massive 20+ talent corporate campaigns—I know the truth: The beauty department is an active participant in your production’s efficiency.

When you hire me, you aren’t just booking an artist; you are bringing on a strategic ally for corporate production beauty management who invests in your project as much as you do

The "Pink Mantis" Difference: Corporate Production Beauty Management

"I don’t just show up to apply makeup; I show up to provide expert corporate production beauty management that protects your bottom line. My expertise isn't limited to a specific style—I am fully mobile kit equipped and experienced to handle any color, shade, age, size, or gender, for any theme, in any environment.

Whether we are in a controlled studio or on a rugged location in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, or Indy, my approach remains the same: Proactive. Professional. Prepared.

Why Productions Invest in My Expertise

I have been flown across the country for shoots, with travel and per diem covered by production, because producers know that hiring a professional is cheaper than managing a disaster. When you book me, you get:

  • The "Zero-Edit" Standard: My work is designed for high-definition and 4K, meaning your post-production team spends less time fixing skin or color-correcting tones. I protect your footage before the shutter even clicks.

  • Seamless Integration: I understand that every role on set is crucial. I work in tandem with your DP and Production Manager from the initial bid to the final wrap, ensuring the beauty department is perfectly synced with lighting, camera, wardrobe and the production schedule.

  • The Prep Guide Advantage: Upon booking, I initiate a detailed prep process. Once I receive the talent headshots, mood boards, and the Run of Show, I provide a comprehensive pre-shoot preparation checklist for talent

to anticipate the needs of the production so that when call time arrives, we are already ahead of the game. We establish a detailed game plan in order to ensure shoot day runs smooth. I can coordinate with wardrobe as well, even if I am the only HMU artist or one of 10, I treat each project as if I am a department head because I appreciate preparedness.

  • Priority Service Availability: Producers, Production Manager, Coordinators, get "priority booking" or "guaranteed availability" (if booked 5 days in advance). This is valuable to a busy producer because it solves your logistics headache.

Speaking the Same Language: Technical Precision, Creative Results

One of the biggest hurdles on any set is the gap between a Producer's vision and the technical execution. I pride myself on bridging that gap.

Whether we are discussing "skin finish" for 4K resolution, color-correcting for specific lighting temperatures, or period-accurate styling, I speak the language of your production team. By standardizing our terminology before the first brush touches skin, we ensure that:

  • Expectations are aligned: You get exactly the look you envisioned, with no surprises at the monitor.

  • Time is saved: We skip the back-and-forth and get straight to the shot. "Last looks" ACTUALLY means Last looks.

  • You remain the Director: I use my technical background to support your creative direction, not compete with it. I am here to ensure that the technical realities of makeup—which can be a nightmare if ignored—are handled seamlessly so you can stay focused on the bigger picture.

A True Set Ally

The eb and flow of a set can be unpredictable. You need someone who can get along with anyone, anywhere—from high-level corporate stakeholders to busy production crews. I pride myself on being the calm, capable professional who keeps the talent comfortable and the schedule on track.

Set etiquette at it's finest: I’ve seen it all, and I am prepared for anything. My role is to act as a safeguard for your investment.

Greenlight Your Next Project

If you are looking for a collaborator who treats your production with the same level of seriousness and passion as you do, let’s talk. My rates are competitive, my standards are set to "Emmy-level," and I am ready to travel to your next location.

Scheduling for Success: The "Time-Budget" Reality

As a Dept. Head or Lead/Key HMUA I am frequently asked, "How much time do you need for [X] look?" My answer is always rooted in efficiency and quality. I don’t ask you to conform your schedule to me; I provide a Time-Budget Framework so you can schedule with confidence.

When planning your Run of Show, keep these industry-standard benchmarks in mind for my department [Applicable to male or female]:

  • Touch-up's: 5-10 minutes per talent. (Focus: Given they come already with just a base or their

  • everyday "put together" look, these quick touch-ups are to ensure shine control and fly away management [best for extremely tight schedules or larger casts/groups to get them a professional last look to be camera ready] and can be done as quickly and efficiently as possible.)

  • Men’s/Corporate Grooming: 15–20 minutes or less per talent. (Focus: Anti-shine, skin evening, hair control/facial hair and brow grooming).

  • "No-Makeup" Makeup / Natural: 20 minutes or less per talent. (Focus: Subtle correction, skin preparation and priming, invisible enhancements that give a clean, even toned complexion reading invisible in 4K HD)

  • Soft Glam Makeup & Hairstyling: 30 minutes or less per talent. (Focus: This is my most requested on camera look for female talent and is normally referred to as "natural" however it is most women's "put together" look which consists of everyday glam-skin prep & priming, foundation, light brow and eye enhancements for reading on camera and light lip & contour, dry heat styling with blowout or curls)

  • Full Glam / High-Fashion: 45-60 minutes per talent. (Focus: Detailed makeup & contouring, lash application, intricate hair styling).

Pro-Tip for PMs: When you have 10+ talent, I suggest "staggering" arrivals rather than having everyone show up at once. This ensures that every single person gets the same level of attention without a traffic jam at my chair. If you send me your call sheet in advance, I will personally help you map out the most efficient flow for your talent arrivals.

Why Pink Mantis Beauty is Your Best Asset

When you’re balancing a production schedule, you need people who minimize variables, not add to them. Here is why investing in my expertise—and having me on your team—is the smartest move for your production’s bottom line:

  • Environmental Resilience: From the humidity of Florida and the heat of Texas to the freezing temperatures of New York, I have mastered the chemistry of makeup and hair in every climate. I know exactly how to prep talent to ensure they look impeccable, regardless of the elements.

  • Total Versatility: Whether you’re shooting a high-stakes corporate interview, an outside music video, or a studio-controlled commercial, I have the experience to deliver the perfect look for any age, skin tone, size, or gender.

  • The Character-to-Camera Expert: My expertise spans across the board—from precise characterization for narrative projects to clean, "invisible" grooming for live broadcast and high-def corporate media. I understand the nuance required for every single shot.

  • Risk Mitigation: Hiring a "cheap" or local artist who lacks set experience is the biggest gamble you can take. Every delay caused by a beauty emergency is a direct hit to your budget. By choosing me, you are paying for the peace of mind that comes with a professional who anticipates needs, protects your continuity, and respects your call sheet.
